While the loss of £67.7m for the year ending June 30 2011 is a slight improvement, it confirmed that owner Roman Abramovich has taken his spending past the £1billion barrier since buying Chelsea in 2003. And what has his incredible investment achieved? Short-term success certainly as the three Premier League trophies in the cabinet show. Yet with UEFA's rules of financial fair play coming into effect, there must now be concern at Stamford Bridge that they could return to mediocrity in the long term. Anyone who witnessed the team's terrible display as they drew 1-1 at Swansea last night, which was destined to end in defeat until Neil Taylor unluckily deflected Jose Bosingwa's cross into his own net in the 93rd minute, may think they are heading there already. Cost me 14 points that bloody own goal!!!!

My back is as stiff as an ironing board. Luckily, that is only a problem for bending and sitting is okay. Today is one of my important days so send out positive vibes from now till about 4pm. Thanks. |

I will laugh so much now if you come back with a nasty head injury. I might not have been alive had I not had my helmet on. No idea but someone who had a very similar fall to me died the same day that I walked out relatively unscathed from it. He hit his head on a tree when he wasn't wearing a helmet. Obviously it is a risk you choose to take and fine but I would never ski without one now. |

Trees are very hard to come by on the middle of the slopes these days. What resort was it? Surely that shouldn't be allowed? Everyone can wheel out a scare story of X doing Y without a helmet and they died. I've been skiiing/boarding for 25 years, my Dad for 30+, all my mates the same - we've never worn helmets. We've fallen, we've injured ourselves but I still to this day do not know anyone who has had a serious head injury from it. Broken wrists, ribs, legs, arms all of that - every year someone visits the medical centre in our group! I certainly wouldn't discourage anyone from wearing a helmet, do as you please - but please don't spout out absolute nonsense rhetoric from just a couple of isolated incidents you've not even witnessed first hand. Good article to read: http://www.ski-injury.com/prevention/helmet |

Whistler. Lots of trees there. For me,the riskof breaking a leg is one I am prepared to take. The risk of breaking my head/brain is not a risk I am prepared to take. Or at least one I am happy to reduce as much as possible by wearing a helmet. There is no reason not to wear one. They don't cost much, they are warm and comfortable and they could potentially save your life. |

There's lots of reasons to not wear one. 1) The cost. 2) The bulkiness of transport. 3) The bulkiness on your head. 4) The heat, see 2) if you want to ski without it. 5) The lack of self preservation it gives you. People think they are invincible with a helmet. Personally I think they cause more injuries than they prevent. 6) You look like a dick. A noob. Someone who has no respect for the mountain, or confidence in their ability. There are absolutely no stats out there to suggest you're safer with a helmet. You are right though, of course with one if you hit your head you will be better off (depends how you hit it), but most people don't hit their head, and they go around thinking because they have a helmet they can take bigger risks. And then they hurt themselves. The only people on my holidays to have hurt themselves are the ones with a helmet on. And it's not been their head. |
