WADDLE: WALCOTT DOESN`T HAVE A FOOTBALL BRAIN Posted 04/03/10 13:58EmailPrintSave Former England winger Chris Waddle has launched a savage attack on Theo Walcott. According to Waddle, a pundit for BBC Radio Five Live for England's win over Egypt on Wednesday night, the Arsenal forward does not possess a football brain and hasn't developed his game since his 2006 transfer from Southampton to the Emirates. It's almost as if Waddle has been reading a copy of F365 from a year ago. "People keep saying he's young but Wayne Rooney understood the game at 16, 17," Waddle told The Times. "I've never seen any difference in Walcott since he was at Southampton and broke into the team at a very young age. "I've never seen him develop. He just doesn't understand the game for me - where to be running, when to run inside a full back, when to just play a one-two. It's all off the cuff. "I just don't think he's got a football brain and he's going to have problems. Let's be honest, good defenders would catch him offside every time. I just don't know whether he studies the game, learns the game, or what. He's at a great club where they play fantastic football week-in, week-out, and I'm just surprised he's never developed his game. "I'm surprised Walcott was in the squad. He doesn't play a lot of football, he hasn't done anything. he hasn't done anything for a long time and I think Croatia was a one-off." http://msn.football365.com/story/0,17033,8652_6002652,00.html |

What prompted Chris Waddle to say this? Did Walcott play against Eygpt and a bolognaise of things, or is there something else? |

Walcott went to the last World Cup, some said as Judas Sol's companion (not nice). I assume Chris Waddle feels, as does Scarf, that he should not go to South Africa? |

I dont think he deserves to go, but nor do a lot of current players! On form this season SWP hasnt done shit, and he's actually a worse player than Walcott - but he certainly didnt show that last night Lennon and Rooney are the only two players that 1) deserve to be in the England squad without question, and 2) can actually perform. |

SWP is far better than Walcott. That just highlights how shit Walcott is though, not that SWP is good

Hmm perhaps, I think SWP is just a lucky player. All his moves and shots are just deflections

But at least he tries other things besides the trick I learn't at school lunchtime as a 7 year old, of knocking it one side of an opposing player and running around the other side. |

But hold on, Lennon's injured, and hasn't done anything for England. Actually, he's done less than Walcott in more games. This silly logic makes me laugh

He was one of England's best players in the last World Cup ![]() And he's one of best performing English players this season ![]() He's injured, yes - but even being injured he's still better than Walcott. His 3 goals against Croatia (which were all excellent finishes) were a long time ago - you have to leave that alone now, and accept he's not good enough for England, and perhaps Arsenal. |

He definitely isn't good enough for Arsenal. All of there players are technically brilliant, Walcott just doesn't fit in at all. He'll do something half decent every now and then which keeps him in the focus of the media. If Franny Jeffers had been given Walcotts game time he would have done better

After draw v Yids, Villan quoted "We were horrible. It was like Watford in the 80s, not at Wimbledon levels, but Watford." Source Tottenham utterly humiliate Wigan 9-1 - their biggest top-flight win and the second-largest winning margin in Premier League history | |

Well tbh Waddle I seem to recal was pretty slow you need a football brain then, Walcot is more the airhead wingertype, usefull but not a deciding player |
